Moms and Sons

Moms and Sons

A Poem by Derek

We want our moms to see us, as strong men,

We want the world to know, even if it’s make-pretend,

Deep hearts, deep knowing, deep eyes, overflowing,

Sometimes, we just don’t know how to make it okay.

How do we speak, of the uneasiness beneath the clouds?

We won’t let you see, except the solid land,

While the waters, yes those waters, spin around.

And we’re shouting, yes shouting, so silently out loud!

But you held my hand, and you’ve made me smile,

And you’ve touched my heart, and made it grow a mile.

But something inside, we cannot run away from,

And all the happiness is consumed in a quite dark room.

Don’t forget me, because I will never forget you,

Don’t feel bad, because you in my life made me glad.

Don’t cry, unless their memories filled with joy,

Cause I know, that I’ll always be your baby boy.
