Highway Suicides

Highway Suicides

A Poem by Valerie Cwiekowski

don't turn on the light

and watch the world come alive to

make you feel,

oh something more than you think you are

wait until the darkness

head off onto the highway

blinding headlights pass you by

you're stuck on autopilot

'cos you've got everywhere to go

but no one to hold as nighttime falls

oh no, anything but this love

not a clean farewell

like a car crash

whose sadness controls you

as the white lights of headlights

shine on highway suicides

you should go to sleep, now

love, i'll watch our worlds collide

you can break out and away and i'll remain here,

living in the love we can't seem to find

what happened to what's left of us

what's left of all those yesterdays

where the world waited for us to figure out her lies

love, tell me something

it's all that you can't stand to lose

it's all that you can't hold

when you think you know everything

you know damn near nothing at all..

This is really so dark and sad but so beautifully written!
Very intense piece of writing...

First i liked the title. It tempted me to click and read. Then I just liked the last stanza,

"love, tell me something
it's all that you can't stand to lose
it's all that you can't hold
when you think you know everything
you know damn near nothing at all.."

Thank you.
