If You Listen

Within us
is the mystery of life
more luminous
than the light
of every star combined
It mounts us above the mundane, the ephemeral
and helps us catch a glimpse
of the immemorial, the eternal

But only if you listen, that is,
to its hushed, teasing, murmurs
embalmed with elephantine enigmas
Otherwise, you might peer into yourself
and wallow on a trickery; a fantasy of twilight
when in truth, behind those cold charcoal walls,
the loving light awaits, longing to disclose
the secrets of the cosmos
