Drowning

Drowning

A Poem by Aisha Mnd
"

Written during a period of depression. Excerpt: With my legs thrashing about/ Eyes unwavering as I watch the/ Waves, a lover’s ache.

"

The water rises to my neck

I am drowning

But I do not choke or cough

Instead, I embrace the heavy hold of the sea

But the fools around me do not leave me be

Not before long, I am grabbed, clutched by my waist

And steered away from the water

With my legs thrashing about

Eyes unwavering as I watch the

Waves, a lover’s ache

While within me life unfolds

My heart drumming its notorious tune: dub be dub dub

Unfaithful to what it desires most
