![]() BreatheA Poem by Aisha Mnd![]() Muddled thoughts, metaphorical suffocation and existential gloom must be vented--- thus this poem. Excerpt: Lost in the perpetual/cryptogram/ never to be encrypted.![]() "Breathe," I said. Just breathe until all that constrict your lungs fly off to a place where they can never return. You're no longer desolate in an island alone with no where else to go There are images and vivid films playing in your mind, whirling around until you've flown from your current setting, and have found yourself in a place much more comprehensible to your regressive mind. .. .. .. Dim lights. Turn the lights off. The secrets should remain shrouded, clandestine until the flame burns down, the wax melts, until there is no longer a burning candle perched above the long, ornate, ever-expanding space of complete obscurity. The enigma that keeps me... "Breathe," I said. Keeps me breathing... It's like a knife wrapped in the most silken of velvets though at times it seems as though it's wrapped in a harlot's frock. .. .. .. Boom! Boom! Boom! The gun goes. Fires into a man, blood simmers down his fresh wound. "Breathe," I said. His gun falls to the ground, and he runs towards the other, grabs him, tells him to, "Breathe." "You just f****n' shot me!" the dying man cries. Yet, the perpetrator is telling him to... "Breathe," I said. ... ... ... Silence ... ... ... Silence ... ... ... I can't keep silent for long. When will the boiling water burst out of the cauldron, and roast all that comes its way? .. .. .. Such a day is near, my friend. Near. Near. Near. .. .. .. Nothing is near. Everything is so distant. Never to grasp. Never to hold. Never to attain. Lost in the perpetual cryptogram never to be encrypted. .. .. .. "Breathe," I said. .. .. .. Breathe.
