A Black Rose

A Black Rose

A Poem by Aisha Mnd
"

A poem I wrote for a prompt I thought I'd share. Excerpt: Petals unhinge/ silken sheets between my thumbs/ I caress the freshly dead I’ve embezzled/ and pick at new.

"
A Black Rose

A shade,
not a color like its kin.
Black, a silhouette of a rose.
A shadow.
Soft and fine, as a rose should be.

But Black.

Petals unhinge,
silken sheets between my thumbs.
I caress the freshly dead I’ve embezzled
and pick at new.

My thumbs
bleed red,
as they brush against a deadly thorn.

Crimson liquid emulates tears, a second
there, my blood before my eyes, red upon black
and then... gone.

Black eats all.

You are most certainly welcome. Thank you for writing it.
Very melancholy, with nice description of the feel and look of the rose petals and thorns.
