A poem written during a period of existential depression. Excerpt: A star plummets from the sky/ lands on my hands, and begins to/ burn my very flesh.
The Denouement
A star plummets from the sky lands on my hands, and begins to burn my very flesh. My skin dissipates until I perceive white bones, yet I continue to hold on, as though the star is an elixir to the sickness that fastens onto men, when they arouse into questioning the quintessence of all that is, and are in effect thrown into the land of the Cimmerians by the chafed gods, where they are just breathing, vacant skeletons, beholding the ephemeral. And never to attain The Denouement.
Thanks for reading! If you have anything to say, feedback is more than welcomed. I've never taken courses for writing, and so if this is garbage, then I'm sorry!
Anyway, I wrote this piece while going through a period of existential depression. I was pondering and questioning everything. It was a frightening phase, as I was only fourteen, too young to deal with such matters whilst my friends partied and had fun. I still fall into it at times, but I manage.
By the way the Cimmerians were a mythical people. They were said to inhabit a land of perpetual darkness.

My mind went to someone holding a small child when the great mountain of Pompeii lit the sky as Jupiter would if he was the spark the world of man. When a new word would enter the Latin vocabulary. This fits not just mythical, but practical people alike.
I took time to understand the well written piece.
It seems quite thoughtful based on personal experience.
I appreciate your great efforts.

The star in this poem represents a new belief system. It burns my very flesh because I'm fooling myself into believing that this may just be it, this may be the belief I had been searching for. And I continue to hold onto it, although it has now burned all my flesh, in hopes of quieting my existential thoughts.

This segment symbolizes individuals who have like me, have begun to delve into the deeper aspects of life. They're thrown into the 'land of Cimmerians', for they've landed into a very dark phase in life. They're beholding the ephemeral, as they can see everything that is occurring before them, but they will never attain the conclusion to their questions.
I hope my explanation cleared the aspects that appeared difficult for you to comprehend. Again, I'm sorry for not explaining this piece to you earlier! If you have any more queries, feel free to ask them!
