I Still Know You

I Still Know You

A Poem by Dreamwind

I still know you,
Your soul haunts me,
The undiluted love of youth,
The take-for-granted attitude,
You had of me,
All wrapped up in freshness.
Your clear eyes,
Won't stay out of my dreams.
Your perfectly matched to mine body,
Familiar arms,
Somehow I find my way back,
And I am home,
All the present forgotten.
There is only the past youth
And the future of growing old together.
I know my way around you,
I don't totally fit ,
but settling isn't always bad.
To know what to expect of tommorrow.
Familiar is sometimes underrated.
Not appreciated.
To lie down in predictableness.
Sunshine days of take-for-granted love.
Relaxing into forever,
When there was a forever.

I still know you...
I won't ever forget.

This piece brings to me many thoughts. As well as questions about the course of past and present views on love. What makes more of a match, those who are in discord but try to make it work, or those who fit perfectly and know it will work?
Your words have a flow that engender thought and reflection.

Great Ink!

An old love...first love perhaps? It seems that we never forget our first love. But memories have a way of making the past look better than it was...that's why we call them "the good old days" working 12 hours a day in the blistering sun with blistered hands that turned to callouses and collapsing in a heap on Sunday or falling asleep in church...yup...the grass was greener, the skies were bluer, the mountains were taller, the water purer back in the good old days...but at least there was work to do and folks who would pay to have it done,,,more than I can say for today now the corporations own the farms and manufacturing is done in China.
