break

break

A Poem by Elizabeth S

the wind brushes against her face but

everything around her is quiet.

the grass is asleep.

the trees are asleep.

the sky is a silent ocean.

then something loud is coming her way and

twenty boys storm across the gravel,

pushing a shopping cart and blasting club music,

every boy running and every boy yelling.

it lasts for five seconds and the boys are gone.

in endless silence, she continues her walk.

I find it incredibly moving when poets take familiar, everyday places and express them in a way that resonates deeply with the soul. There's something powerful about how the simplest things, when articulated with honesty and care, can touch the core of our being. Thank you for crafting such a beautiful poem—its depth and simplicity have left a lasting impression on me
