Shades of BrownA Poem by dfimspired by some girl who stood in front of me in line in a Chinese food restaurantMajestic, inside grew a tree a mighty oak of completion Her shades of brown enthralling the confines of the room And me, in it’s shade and her comfort in its cycle the sun set and slowly the oak embraced me in her shadows. taller they grew and taller light creeping shadows spreading her arms surrounding and then past its threshold, sudden collapse and shadows no more like the sun they disappear darkness. the room is suddenly empty my oak, my mahogany, and my birch she grows outside © 2011 df |
