The Rest

The Rest

A Poem by Jenna
"

Haha was reading The Giver during the writing of this.

"

The world’s words catch you

Lift your mind high above the clouds

Which blanket the Rest’s view of reality

That only you know.

Your mind is the wind that flows

Rippling the gentle waves that cloak

The unknown creatures of the deep

The Rest all keep hidden.

Ideas pulse your skin

They are the stars that shine each night

And cause the Rest to stop and stare

Though they want to hide your stars

With lights of their own - no more

Than words wrapped with empty meanings.

Your soul is the sky that never ends

Though the Rest try to hurt you

They try to leave you but in their leaden hearts

They know they can’t for if and when you fly higher

They will remember for the first time

It is you who saved them.
