Black Repose

Black Repose

A Poem by 憂鬱 | Yuutsu
"

Notre-Dame is silent.

"
For whom the bell tolls? It tolls for thee
The ferryman stands at the shore of the sea
Waiting beneath the eternal fig tree

Black as night, the water lies
And in its depths thy sightless eyes
See visions of the Hell-lord’s rise

He is not man, nor goat, nor beast
It is upon thee the King shall feast
Blessed for naught by sinning priest

Accept thy fate, o mortal man
Enveloped by Death’s great wingspan
Surrendered to the Styx helmsman

Under Hades' gates ye glide
A coin to pay for thine silent ride
Those left behind, thou doth deride

A privilege to bathe in Persephone’s fountain
At the base of Cerberus’ mountain
