Thinking of youA Poem by DreI am always seeing familiar faces. Faces from far or dark places. Places of pleasure and joy. Their faces haunt me down the crowded corridors but they do not see me. I see Sarah from far away and her face shifts and changes. She hasn't seen me, yet I saw her for the second when she appeared. Before she was no longer Sarah. Brown short bobs darken and are parted on the wrong side. High rooftop eyebrows become less acute. A square face slightly too round. An expression I have never seen before. This split second accompanies a memory. She wore vanilla perfume, maybe never knew my name. Everyday a new face appears. Sometimes many in a row. Theses ghosts remind me of the past. And let me know that the future is familiar and safe. © 2008 Dre |
