The Story of Us

Love poem

I know a man
A poet like myself
Who holds the opinion
That I should keep
The story of us private
Since its a tale of failure
And you might not approve

The way I see it
Our story is shared -
Community property
And since you're not
Going to tell it, the
Responsibility falls upon me
Because unlike our love
Which I had little say
In the outcome of
I can prevent our story
From turning to dust
And bring carried off by the wind
I don't want it to due
I believe it's worth telling
