It's been too many years
Since I told her of things
I was discovering
About her - about myself
Perhaps
It was too much
Perhaps
The truth was too difficult to hear -
To bare in the cold
Unforgiving light of day

Perhaps I misjudged her
Perhaps I trusted too much-
Misled by
The glint in her eyes
The smile on her face
The way she touched me

It could have been sadness
It could have been pity
It could have been anything
Other than what it was
