Poem

This was the New York
Where rents were cheap
Where the streets were alive -
Dangerous

This was a time
When Gerald Ford refused
To federally fund the city -
Told New York to "drop dead"

And
For those of us
Brave enough to live there
This was a New York
Full of rap
Full of roaches and beats
And used hypodermic discarded in the streets

This was a New York
Full of fun
