Love poem.

Thomasina

I remember
Oreo cookies at lunch
The impossibly large earrings you wore -
The way you smelled of Giorgio-
That you were in the choir and
I was in the school band-
That you left school after
Our junior year - that I've
Thought of you every day ever since

I regret
That we couldn't...
That we didn't...
That we never will...

You are as beautiful now
As you were then - as you were
On the night of the homecoming dance
When you danced with me -
An angel who crashed through
The clouds on the way from Heaven

And neither man nor time
Can take that memory from me

CJ,
For some reason, this one reminds me of a woman I knew a few years ago. She was diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer and said her greatest regret was that she did not have more sex... I'm not sure, but I think she might have meant more close, intimate relationships. How many harmless nights might we have spent enjoying the food, drink, conversation, and time spent in comfortable companionship. sigh.

I am reminded of my very first crush back in 4th grade in the early 70's. She wore a knee high pastel dress with white Bobby socks and black short heel shoes so shiny I thought they were plastic. All I could see was a perfect angel in front of me. Instead of opening up my heart to her I Instead said she had cooties. I so regret that to this day. Thank you for sharing your poem with us.
