Road Dreams

Road Dreams

A Poem by drcornelius

Last night was one of those nights

When sleep decided to take

A cross-consciousness trip

On a 1947 Harley

With a sidecar

The one with the flathead

Forty-five cubic inch

“G” code motor - orange

We spent the first hour

From midnight

until shortly after one

Looking for stuff

Packing it up

And getting ready to leave

You know, that kind of

wound down

Everything-seems-to-be-stuck

Slow motion dream

I never did figure out

who was driving

I was stuck in the sidecar

I got up and went to the bathroom

Climbing back into bed

or was it the sidecar

I hoped a new dream would take over

It was not to be
