It's Time

It's Time

A Poem by drcornelius

Throw my shirt out the window

nail my pants up on the door

Use my underwear for paint rags

I don’t need them anymore

Let me run around naked

Like I came out of the womb

No need for such belongings

On my trip toward the tomb

Throw away my family Bible

Likewise Torah and Quran

I don’t need directions

To learn to hate my fellow man

Let me grow up free of hatred

Like I came out of the womb

No need to carry anger

On my trip toward the tomb

Throw away my patriotism

Expressed in pledges and in song

It seems when I fight for country

I end up doing my planet wrong

Let me grow up free from fighting

Like I came out of the womb

Don’t need blind national pride

On my trip toward the tomb

Throw your shirt out the window

Nail your pants up on the door

Use your underwear for paint rags

You don’t need them anymore

Let us join our hands in friendship

As we jump and dance and run

Forget the tomb for the time being

Let’s be free and just have fun
