Symmetry. Not exact, not perfect -- that would be boring -- but in compassion, taste, and fortitude. Still individual in our own right, but connected by the strongest, deepest sinews of spirit.
He gives until his bones shake and I return until my being quakes, all the while gripping each other for support. It sounds like co-dependency, like a mutually-assured destructive relationship. however, we have now a person who returns what we give -- rather than take until our marrows leaks. A source of replenishment, like two branches in a tepee.
Beyond support, the shelter and comfort of a structure born of our strength -- singular and combined. Drawn tight by shared experiences, staked in different places, different foundations, on the same sort of ground. Not at all identical -- but similar enough for understanding, only different enough for complimentary support. My quiet air to balance his passionate bluster. His boundless, relentless love to curb my barbed boundaries.
Even if he wasn't as generous, the intelligence that glitters in the reflection of his bookshelves in his eyes would be near enough to all I need. Like a well-written novel, beyond anything Hemingway could imagine, our voices transcend noise to a pitch that any soul could hear -- if only its holder used it to hear. He does; finally an answer, not an echo, from a person's mind, finally a kindred force. It's hard to fathom a day that we will not find the words to maintain this connection, like imagining a day without sunshine or rain without clouds. Even when there is nothing but quiet and sunsets or rises, there are gestures and glances that are so much more profound than words.
The fact that these words he'd understand, that alone makes him so much more than another could be.

About
I'm a stream-of-consciousness kind of writer, sticking to realistic fiction. I like to use writing as a way of lucid dreaming, I guess would be a way to put it, a way to study situations and people. I.. more..
