Don't Be

Don't Be

A Poem by Archipelago
"

bad weather poem

"

What if I looked like that

What if I talked like them

What if I was born that way

What if I knew that then

There is no peace

Every color, all at once

Every lifetime, in this one

Everyone you knew, in one room

Every place you’ve been, in one frame

There is no peace

Touch the bright white flame, so quickly now

Touch the clock that chimes the zero hour

Touch the one who tore your aorta out

Touch the lips that will not make a sound

There is no peace

Take out the bags of filth, don’t leave a mess

Take care when grabbing at your chest

Take it from me, it’s easy to dig too deep

Take these things from me like you do best

There is no peace

Leave the windows open, all of them

Leave the doors unlocked, don’t question me

Leave the gun loaded, right next to me

Leave the bedroom dark, I’ll call if I need you

There is no peace

What if I hadn’t been there to black out

What if you had known what was right now

What would your last message to me say

What hurts is that I know that it would be

Exactly how it was, because you don’t care

Exactly like I said, and it’s not fair

Exactly how long did you think I’d last

Exactly one week since I went back to the past

There is no peace
