Among the Thorns

Among the Thorns

Smile pretty for the cameras

Let them have their day

It's just a little to endure and then I can release

Relapse

Reduce myself back down to what I really am

Shedding my body

Stripping my layers

               On the Bobby Sands diet

With a busy razor

                    Shaving me smooth

And busy scissors

                       Cutting me down to size

Until all that's left

                           Is a pile of skin

Wrapped around bones

And an exhausted soul hovering over it

Relieved of its burden

Relaxing at last

Reborn
