Sleep TalkingA Poem by Archipelagoprocrastination isn't all bad...
All the pretty urban sprawl Growing and engulfing all In dancing lights In cancerous nights A world contained beneath a wall I’ve toured this country on a bus On roads that ran away from us The heavens need Some space to breathe And keep the sun ‘tween dawn and dusk You cast aspersions on their dreams Yet revel in the things they make For restless children never sleep But unleash their minds while still they wake I urge you, value every breath you take Good providence must at times allow For a desert headstone for a lake Just as it partakes in idle lies To comfort children when a child dies Or a sparrow, or a tree Your mind cannot forever ache: As you are now, so once was I Now view the lights divine from the sundering seas And wipe the wonder from your brow An exciting place to live and die So heed my prays and let it be Don’t let them tear the skylines down Let’s run away and out of town We’ll find a place And time to waste Just promise not to make a sound And so I say “To each his own” Some may choose to live alone Amidst the crowds Their voice drowned out But I prefer our lonely home © 2009 ArchipelagoAuthor's Note
