Different, Indifferent

Different, Indifferent

nothing special, reviews would be helpful, thank you

They all dance in synchrony

As they march down the pavement

They know the steps and the lyrics

And when they see the rest at rest

They say it’s easy, just move along

You’ll pick up the beat as you go along

Just fall in step and follow along

And I can’t pick it up, but the beat goes on

Sometimes in silence I find myself

Singing something else to myself

Usually on days when it’s too much to ask

To keep forcing the blood through my veins

It’s so much harder with a broken heart

But regardless, the beat goes on

Their melody goes fine with fine times

But those are not the times when we’re alive

You can’t see your heartbeat unless you’re cut open

So I try to teach them my song

But they say you’re doing it wrong

Just follow the beat and move along

So instead I slide slowly into the ocean

And I feel the pulse of the waves

And think maybe they were right

My song was always out of rhythm

But I can’t go back now

I’ve let myself get too far gone

And besides, the beat goes on
