"Rescue"

"Rescue"

A Poem by what-the-frick

You promised forever but

Then you said never ... mind.

Now my heart's split in two,

But I won't show that to you this time.

I'm learning to navigate through my life,

Minus you ...

And I think all of your sorries are lip service,

Playing me a fool.

But I know I'm better than how you behaved.

And I know I'm not weak and don't need to be saved.

And I know you are missing and wishing,

There was some kind of rewind.

But I'm not playing rescue this time.

The times they got rough, but instead of stay tough

You just ran...

You showed what a boy you were, though kept claiming a man...

When I needed an angel, you were nowhere and couldn't be found.

Just left me breaking and pleading alone on the ground.

But I know I'm better than how you behaved.

And I know I'm not weak and don't need to be saved.

And I know you are missing and wishing,

There was some kind of rewind.

But I'm not playing rescue this time.

Again, very emotional. Can't say that enough when it comes to your work. When I read it I feel it and for myself that's very important. Also tugged at a bit of a personal past with me yet again. Won't bore you with the deets but needless to say, she said she'd always be there and when things got a little rough, and a little more serious, she gave in and ran away to hide. Very sad :(. But it's good to see that unlike most people I know who have gone through this you seem to have realized your own self worth and that you deserve better than what they did to you. Of course I'm assuming this isn't just fiction and like me you pull from your real life experiences? If not then it's still an excellent piece of work as well as a great lesson to be learned about what we deserve compared to what we've gotten before.

This is an strong poem and I can definitely relate to this. Sometimes when the one who matters most to you disappears, you just gotta get up and keep pushing on. Well written and kudos!

Oh wow! You're words are like thoughts right out of my mind! Just gender reversed. I totally can feel the power and the force of strength in standing strong. Great Poem!
