"Missed the Shooting Star"

"Missed the Shooting Star"

A Poem by what-the-frick

So you love me?

That's news.

The last time I spoke,

Your words encased me

Like the blanket draping across my lap.

I will do this. There is no option.

You promised, with your lips and eyes

But your intentions had another agenda

I dove deep

Into the well of hope you concocted.

I couldn't swim, but I knew you would save me.

So I treaded

And waited

Until my skin puckered and my lips shivered

And it became your game

You can't ruin something impermeable.

Yet you can wear it down.

Here I am, half-alive, wishing for death,

So I could haunt the rest of your days.

I'll tear you apart, piece by piece

Deconstruct the world you've built.

Until there's nothing left.

But parts of you in parts of me.
