"A Million Years Ago"

"A Million Years Ago"

A Poem by what-the-frick

A million years ago you loved me,
I could see it in your eyes,
You never wanted to part our ways,
Your love was no disguise.

A million years ago you made me feel
Like flowers bloom in Spring.
I couldn't wait to see you,
See what our time would bring.

A million years ago you needed me
To comfort, hold, and love you.
I never thought twice about it,
Because that's what best friends do.

But now you're gone away from me,
And I don't see the how or why.
You're all my love has been about,
But you're letting my heart die.

If signs were there, I was blind to see,
I don't see love past you and me,
So take my heart with you when you go,
It's no good to me alone and broke.

I really like the repetition and rhyme in this, it creates a certain flow in the poem that keeps me reading. I feel like, for me personally, it's really difficult to create rhyming words without it sounding forced but you do a really good job of finding natural ones that seem to roll of the tongue.
