War

War

A Poem by what-the-frick

I fought. So hard.
Through gritted teeth,
Lazy withdrawals,
Red lights.

And I cried. Earth-shaking sobs.
Doubted my love,
Blamed everything on me,
Wronged the rights.

Then I blinked.
All the sighs, the okays, the heartbreak.
Echoed and pounded and clawed.
Pierced my perception.
It's on you.

I stay devoted
While you remain smug.
So certain you've got me wrapped.
Nowhere to go but down.
You refuse to see truth.

I love the continuing mystery in this piece. I think it almost makes it more relatable to the readers that way because they can read into it as they please, as it fits their lives. Overall, I think it's a really good piece:)
