"The Day I'm Gone"

"The Day I'm Gone"

A Poem by what-the-frick

The day I'm gone, you'll miss the way,
I always knew what to say,
You'll miss the ear I lent,
And the way I never strayed.

The day I'm gone, you'll miss my voice,
And how we used to talk,
You'll miss the words I used to write,
The notes I wrote in chalk.

The day I'm gone, you'll miss my jokes,
The way we laughed at things,
You'll miss my number on your phone,
Whenever the telephone rings.

The day I'm gone, I'll miss you, too.
But know that I'm okay.
It hurts so much less where I am,
I simply couldn't stay.

We've all had people who have taken us for granted in one way, or another. It's never an easy decision to make to cut them away. Very good job of expressing what's like to feel that loss and to be used in that way. Impressive and full of feeling .
