![]() BloodshedA Chapter by Raven Raymond![]() Umm, I tried to introduce Rashida, the main character into this one, me being the little sixth grader I was had no idea what I was doing.![]() The wind blew through the trees, the branches swayed and the leaves rustled. The caravan bustled slowly along the dirt path. People we’re talking, the warm summer night putting most to sleep was quiet and calm. The man leading the caravan kept nodding off to sleep at the front, the horses doing most of the work for him. Off in the distance, not to far away, a woman ran beside the caravan not making a single noise. Sifting through the shadows she went completely unnoticed. She slowed and came to a stop as the caravan slowed down. The caravan was at a clearing, they were setting up camp for the rest of the night. Perfect, thought Rashida to herself, once they’re all asleep this should be easy. She stood behind a large oak listening, waiting, and when there was no more sounds, she moved. Rashida climbed up the tree, leaping her way to the top as quickly and quietly as she could, which made her seem just like a shadow to the human eye. Once she reached the top she looked down at the caravan and observed it. The wagons were set in a circle around a large campfire. There was one man standing guard, he was one of the royal body guards, his armor glinted in the fire light. His sword was sheathed but it was obvious to Rashida that it was extremely heavy and this man was definitely strong and well built underneath all that armor. She crawled her way to the edge of the branch and jumped. Rashida fell slowly, slowed by some mystical force. She landed softly next to a wagon, one of the seven that encircled the camp. Snoring came from children and their parents that were sleeping. From what Rashida saw there were two families, probably related to the duke traveling to the nearby city, around three children in both of them and both parents were in both of the families as well. They took up four wagons by themselves. One wagon was used to carry supplies, food, water, and the body guards’ weapons and armor. Another was used to carry two of the body guards and the final was used for the duke and one of his body guards. Rashida sized up the body guard. If she got close enough, she could take him and he would never see it coming. She slipped through the shadows, using the wagons as cover. She unsheathed her dagger and stalked closer and closer to the body guard. It all happened in one quick motion. One of the body guards stepped out of the wagon and saw her, standing right out in the open, her black hair glistened in the firelight, and her red eyes flashed with anger and surprise at the sight of the human body guard. In a flash her dagger was twirling at him. It stuck into his throat. He clutched it and made a gurgling noise as he fell to the ground and slowly died. The other body guard stood up, unsheathed his sword and spun around. He saw the little woman before him and he had a look of disbelief on his face. She was wearing black leather armor that tightly hugged her skin, she had four sheaths with throwing knives on her left arm, a short sword at her left hip and a spiked chain was around her waist. He looked her up and down, when he reached her eyes he froze. She tilted her head slightly, stared at him and smiled. “Come on big guy, why don’t you put that big sword down and come here?” said Rashida. He dropped the sword instantly, she made a motion with her finger and he started walking towards her. “Give yourself to me, as my minion you can achieve so much more. With my Dark Gift you can be more then you could ever imagine,” said Rashida with an evil grin. He stepped forward and she reached up, her fangs extended and she sunk her fangs into his neck. He writhed in pain and she drank deeply. She released him from her grasp and she smiled, her fangs slowly retracted. The man’s eyes slowly started turning red, the sign of a vampire. She made him her thrall, now he would always do her bidding. She smiled a wicked grin. “Go, kill the remaining humans, but leave the duke to me. What is your name?” “My name is Itius master,” replied the man. “Very well, you may go,” said Rashida. She turned and went towards the duke’s wagon. A bloodcurdling scream was heard from a woman, a sickening thud and then the sound of a neck snapping brought the scream to an end. Rashida walked to the duke’s wagon and climbed inside. The duke sat up, he was wide awake, and his hand was on the hilt of his sword. “Back you beast,” spat the duke, “I know what you are.” Rashida slid her short sword back into its sheath as she smiled. “If you knew why I was here you would have nothing to fear Milagon,” replied Rashida coolly. A surprised look crossed the duke’s face, or Milagon as Rashida had called him, but he quickly collected himself. “How do you know my name? What do you want from me?” asked Milagon. “I have no intent to harm you, I just have a message for you, it’s from my master,” she smiled. “You know him as Aradroth Blackcloak.” Milagon almost fell over in surprise. “Aradroth? But…it can’t be…,” stuttered Milagon. “Oh but it can Milagon, and he has an offer for you.” Milagon looked up and straight into Rashida’s hard, cold red eyes with defiance. “I won’t accept any offer your master has to offer,” he spat with disgust. Rashida wasn’t surprised; this is exactly what she had expected. “Don’t resist Milagon, your lie has no meaning, you’re born from your mother’s womb, you live your pointless, pathetic life, and then you die. But me and my master can offer you so much more then that, devote yourself to me, to the dark, give yourself to me, and you will live forever under the power of my Dark Gift and then, finally, will your life have meaning,” said Rashida. Milagon stopped staring at Rashida, he looked deep in thought, he was actually considering it…or so she thought. He looked back up at Rashida again. “Never, I’ll never accept your offer,” he said wait that some look of hate and defiance. Rashida sighed deeply. “Then I have no choice but to use force, I’m sorry it had to come to this, I’ll do my best to make it less painful, but it probably will anyway,” said Rashida. Itius jumped into the wagon from the other side and dragged Milagon down. Itius was covered in blood from head to toe from his victims, he had fed well and it fed his supernatural strength. Milagon struggled with everything he had but it wasn’t enough to break from Itius’s iron clad grip. The duke was trapped, Rashida walked towards him and whispered in his ear. “Don’t struggle, it hurts more.” She crouched down, her fangs extending; she moved forward and bit into the soft flesh of the duke’s throat. Milagon screamed out in pain as his human life left him and his undead life began. The duke didn’t struggle; he knew there was no way for him to escape. Darkness had already shrouded his life; it was too late for him. Rashida stopped feeding and stepped back, her fangs slid back into place. Milagon’s brown eyes slowly converted to red. Rashida grinned, “Welcome to the legions of the dark Milagon.” He stood up and smiled back at Rashida, this wasn’t so bad; he couldn’t change a thing now, so he might as well learn to live with it. Of course darkness was influencing his thoughts now. Rashida turned and jumped from the wagon. Master will be pleased, she thought to herself, she had gained two dark minions and increased their power greatly, and their wealth, considering a duke was one of her new thralls to do as she pleased with. © 2011 Raven Raymond |
