The Flame Inside

The Flame Inside

A Poem by dragon2012
"

lyrics in need of music

"

The flame inside that burns

 And consumes the very air that surrounds it;

Leaving me gasping, helpless and aching

Where is my love

Where is my love

Where is my love

I wait and wait,

Sanding off the imperfections,

Sanding down to the bone,

I have no skin left

Where is my love

Where is my love

Where is my love

Drifting between the loving couples,

Their hands locked together, their eyes, questioning,

“Where is my love, where is my love, where is my love?”

I smile, I flirt, I drink too much, I kiss, I promise, and in the end,

I’ve missed it again,

Just a chimera, a mirage,

 a reasonable facsimile

Where is my love?

Where is my love?

Where is my love?
