Mirror Image

A Poem by Diana

I see you,

happy, content, and smiling.

You look and sound just like you.

The you I once knew.

But alas, you are my friend no more.

Just a mirror image.

Carbon copy

of that girl I used to know.

Heart-broken, face-down.

I never though I’d miss you.

I thought you’d always be around.

Best friend of loves and dreams,

Where has the time gone?

Your poem seems to tell about how I approach friendship . . . if it's not a good fit, or if a friend wounds me in a way that feels irreparable, it's best to move on. I love how your poem doesn't make this sound easy or comfortable -- it can require determination to move beyond disappointment -- all this embedded in your words in a subtle way, which is interesting to read (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

When friends become distant and almost like strangers, that can be so upsetting, but it happens. If after trying to reconcile it doesn't work, best to move on in my opinion and remember the good times.worked

I feel the emotion in this piece. The last line leaves us wondering. Has time changed with us or have we changed with time?
Nice poem.
