Forgive Them, Lord

Forgive Them, Lord

A Poem by Diana

Forgive them, Lord.
For they know not what they do.

They are flesh,
yet entirely without spirit.

Greed without heart,
it becomes no man.

You cannot treat another
like a nobody
without saying something of your body,
without speaking from your spirit.

Spirit of disease
washing over you,
taking away all goodness.

Sprit of disease,
washing over me.
Over and away.

Forgive them Lord,
for they know not what they do.

Your powerful poem depicts all kinds of evil-doers, but I'm reminded of the many so-called "friends" who rejected me if I said one negative word about Trump . . . yet they never acknowledged any of the upbeat positive messages I share all the time. Some people are only interested in calling people out for what they perceive as being wrong. It's impossible to point this out becuz they can't see themselves being obsessed with grievance (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Gee
Over the years it has dawned on me that it takes far more effort to carry ill will than to forgive and forget. Many are not so lucky though.

Thank you, Gee. Sometimes I can't decide if it's wise or foolish... Le sigh. Such is life.
You can forgive, but letting them do it to you constantly is foolish. I prefer to avoid people so I do not have a reason to hate them. I also do not care if they hate me.

Not everyone is avoidable. Your advice only works if you NEVER need anything ever.
even those who hurt us deserve forgiveness.

And this reminds me of Langston Hughes' poem "Cross" which indicated that he was trying to forgive his folks and himself for his plight...and that carrying around anger just drains our energy level.
Better to let go of the hate...take on love...and we will sleep peacefully knowing we tried to achieve a balance with others.

I'll have to check out that poem. Yes, there is no peace without forgiveness. Thanks, Jacob.
I have seen bad places and bad people. I have written often. We create the demons in our world. We must be kinder to each other. I liked the prayer dear Diana. Thank you for sharing your amazing words and your thoughts.
