Ears That Don't Hear

Ears That Don't Hear

A Poem by Diana

Ears that don't hear.

Mouths gone mute.

Hearts a-hurting.

I talk to you

and my words bounce off the walls.

They never seep through.

And now I’m bleeding out.

Author's Note

Diana
Originally I had hearts a-bleeding in the first stanza, but I took that out after adding the second stanza. Didn't want to say bleeding twice...

Brutally sad and filled with longing for someone who is gone...perhaps deceased. We still talk to them and some believe they can hear. No way to know for sure though. Powerfully emotional, Diana. Lydi**

Welcome:) my friend
You words bleed across the page. Sometimes we can write our feelings so clearly that we are able to purge them even when we can't articulate them otherwise. Well done.

Thanks, Frieda. My last name starts with a P, too. Just noticed that.

You're welcome Diana, that's not really my last name, my kids call me Pickle to taunt me...ha
I can feel you. Silence is like a sharp blade that leaves deep wounds in the heart...I've gone through that.
Keep going. This is sad, concise but well-done!

I really like these lines. I think it was a good idea not to say bleeding twice. This works well the way it is :)

Thank you, Raymond.
nothing more frustrating than when our words fall on deaf ears...

it does make us bleed, and much of that blood falls on the pages upon which we write poetry.
