Little Matchstick Doll

Little Matchstick Doll

A Poem by Diana

Little matchstick doll.

Hair scattered to the winds.

Raven locks adrift.

Her face against

the grey-blue sky.

Buffeted about

by and by.

Flying ever higher.

ever higher...

Rising into the sky.

The idea for this came to me somewhere between sleep and wakefulness on a tired morning drive to school. Enjoy.

I see someone who feels like she is drifting. At first it feels like she doesn't like being tossed about, she has lost control. Then, she just kind of relaxes and goes with the flow. She is out of touch, but that is ok right now. I like the image of the little matchstick doll. It feels Tim Burton-ish to me. I could be way off, Diana, but this is what I saw when I read this. Nice little piece. Angi~

Thank you for reading.
I really like this piece. Beyond the very beautiful and unique imagery, you touch on how spiritual learning can come from travails. Well done, indeed.

Casual and easy, your words are so innocent....and yet they hold powerful meaning. The imagery is great. Lydi**

This was beautiful Diana. So simple and sweet, but loving all the way through. A perfect poem for this Monday afternoon.

A self-made doll of matchstick from cheap materials perhaps but one that if we give it love and value it will be priceless and soar higher and higher with promises...A great poem...:>)................
