A Woman of Society

A Woman of Society

A Poem by Diana

A Woman of Society

Forty-something. Jet-black hair, Attractively styled, Purposefully so.

Too tight mini. Knee high suede.

Your boots click-clack upon the hallway tiles.

Rouged cheeks smile as you repeat, “Sweetie, sweetie. How are you?” Caked in pleasantries. A woman of society.

And what's so wrong, with any of that ...............?

Sometimes that's what a job entails ..

Sera, thank you.
Magnificent!! I am almost at a loss for words. Absolutely no critique necessary here for a poem that shines with each successive line. Flawlessly sustained cadence and marvelous... and I LOVE your final two lines. BRAVO! This is a masterpiece!

A mother, a lover, a sister, a wife... a writer, engineer, professor, mistress, dream...
a woman ...of humanity. A woman ...of life.

Are you defying the woman presented in the poem?

Deifying? - no. I've just known so many of her... as perchance have you.
or a woman who wants to feel high society...she kids herself...and sometimes others go along with the ruse and exchange pleasantries with her...

really like this piece. there is such a mood...

Thanks for the laugh elicited by your first comment. Glad you felt the mood.
What a great character study this is....the plastic friendship, the woman of forty something still trying to dress twenty something! I liked this a lot. Lydi**

"She" is everywhere. Glad you enjoyed it. That line is also one of my favorites.
