She Grew Pretty; I Grew Smart

She Grew Pretty; I Grew Smart

A Poem by Diana

She Grew Pretty; I Grew Smart

And I tried to be more this...

And she tried to be more that...

She grew pretty;

I grew smart.

But deep down inside,

we felt it in the heart.

Compact case.

Applied to her face.

Erase every trace

of worry and disgrace.

She runs her hand

along its spine,

learning every line,

lest she trip,

'fore she has a script.

She grew pretty.

I grew smart.

And it burned deep down.

We felt it in the heart.
