Head Over Heart

The title is self-explanatory.

Head Over Heart

We hold our heads

above our hearts.

And I’m just as guilty,

guilty as the next one.

Our hearts beat on

Against our chests.

But we don’t hear them.

The near-silent

thump, thump, thump...

Head held high,

Inside we cry.

our Hearts are dying,

while our Minds thrive.

Human balance gone.

The way I understand this poem and I could be wrong is that not all matters of the heart make sense to our minds and if we can't fathom somethings for its mystery does not make it unreal. Just because we don't hear our heart thumps clearly does not mean they don't ...A powerful poem...:)...........

it is simple in presentation...but

understated with theme that is quite a bit more than simplistic..

i do think we hold our heads over our hearts much too often...

we are inside our heads, some of us, so much we can't feel.

i went through this for many years after my first divorce..the head, the sense always won and i just couldn't let go..i related to this...
