Walk In My Shoes

Walk In My Shoes

A Poem by D Poet K
"

You call it beautiful, but I know the truth, its an ugly lie...

"

Could you take a walk in my shoes?
A 9 1/2 inch bruise that won't turn blue
Not visible to the human eye
Resides inside my mind and outside
A smile appears for you to like
You call it beautiful, but I know the truth
Its an ugly lie with pretty teeth and smile lines
To show you.

Could you walk in my shoes?

A 9 1/2 inch scar that won't heal
Feels like a sharp knife stabbing my heel
And it kills me to live this life
But I'll tell you, "its no big deal, I'm fine"
I can handle myself since I've done so 17 years
And I don't shed tears since I have no fears
I'm independent, strong and don't need help
Yet inside I'm weak crying and I can't free myself

Could you walk in my shoes?

Details that would send chills down your spine
With a mother who has an insane wacked mind
And no father to be found for a child longing for one
Seeking out for family love, the only thing I want
Cocaine, molestation and prison all a part of my life
You couldn't walk in my shoes as I have and survive.

I always tell people that I leave behind footprints that could never be followed. I've walked the miles of the elderly and haven't even spent have of my life.

We all have stories... our own tribulations and obstacles that we each have to overcome. There is a strength within us all that we must look for during our most needed times. Not many are blessed to find it. Looks as though you use your voice to get past the things that fall before you. You found your strength through open-ness.

The only line that threw me off was : "With a mother who has an insane wacked mind". Insane and wacked so close kind came across choppy to me.

Other than that... great release.

Bless!

Wow.. that was jam-packed with emotions. I think every person can only live that life they have. Even if others are faced with the same circumstances you are, they would not become the person you are. We all have different ways of dealing with things..

Wow ... it sounds sad but that is how some of us handle their internal pain. A lot of us have deep secrets hidden within our souls ... a past life or even current that we hide by appearing OK externally. Thank you for sharing your feelings and thoughts. You have expressed it so emotionally.

I love the how painfully honest this is. Raw, emotional, powerful "Could you walk in my shoes? A 9 1/2 inch scar that won't heal" Could they indeed? I'm sure there are those that can relate. Amazing!!!
