Chapter Eight: New Day

I tell rose what happened and that I left Katie. We decide we should move away from here. Away from her controlling parents and away from my past.

Rose, Karissa and I, find a new place in Boulder Colorado. Karissa is happy to have her parents back and I was happy. I have a family now.

A month goes by living as a family and it’s the happiest time of my life.

Today starts off as a normal day.  I take Karissa to preschool and go home to write. I’m finishing up my series. Rose has a part time job as a waitress just so she can get out of the house for a bit.

Its 2:00 o’clock, time to pick up Karissa. I go to her school. She isn’t in our meeting spot. I go inside and ask around. She’s not there. I call Rose

“Did you get Karissa?”

“No.”

“She’s not here.”

“What?”

“She’s not here.”

“I’m coming there now.”

I wait here for a while. The school searches for Karissa. Someone said she left with her mother. But the description didn’t fit Rose. After about an hour and no Karissa or Rose. I get worried. I keep calling Rose, but I get no answer. After the 21st time, someone picks up.

“Hello Wayne.”

“Katie?”

“Yes…Miss me?”
