Chapter Fourteen: It Gets ComplicatedA Chapter by The old meAfter a painfully anxious drive, I arrive at the address. I make my way to the back and sneak. I’m not sure what to expect. The building is fairly small two story office building. I sweep the first story and find nothing at first. Then I see one vampire by the stairs guarding it. I run up to him and I swing I catch his head. It falls to the carpet. But he was able to scratch my arm, a little blood is coming from it but I’ll live from it. I walk up the stairs purposely leaving a line of lighter fluid. It’s my insurance. I get to the top and sneak behind some desks. At the head of the room there are like fourteen vamps. I sit there for a moment and prepare the rest of my light fluid into a Molotov. I hear the vamps taking. And I look around and see Jenny tied up. Suddenly the bigger one stops speaking and smell the air. I look down at my cut and see the blood. F**k. All the vamps look in my direction. I stand up and walk a little towards them. All of them show their sharp and powerful teeth at me. I show them my Molotov, they stop. For the first since I have been doing this, I don’t have any fear. It’s weird. The big one, maybe the leader, walks towards me and speaks. “Hello cowboy.” “Hello monster.” “What do you have there?” “Oh just a Molotov. Want to see it closer?” “No. What are you doing here?” “I’m here for the girl.” “Oh. That’s sweet. Look everyone the cowboy has come to save his princess from the horrible monsters” “Yeah. Pretty much.” “How about this, you leave now before I devour you.” “I was thinking more like you give me the girl and you can go on with your plans.” “Hmm.” One of the other vampires goes to him to contest the deal but he doesn’t listen. “Ok.” One of the other vamps releases her and she runs to me. The vampire speaks again. “You know we will find you and kill you right?” “I kind of plan on it. But can I tell you what I wise woman once told me?” “Sure.” “I don’t make deals with monster.” I light the Molotov and throw it at the group of vampires. The one who contested my deal pushes the main one to floor saving him. I grab Jenny and run down the stairs. At the end I light the last stair and the stairway goes up in flames. We run outside to my car and we take off. We see the building getting engulf in flames in side mirrors of the car. We speed home and got inside. We lock up the place and hide in the room. We think we killed them all but we aren’t in the mood for chances. Jenny turns to me. “You came back for me.” “I needed to. I knew you would need help.” “Thank you. I can’t believe it’s finally over.” She starts crying. “I’m glad it is; now you can live your life.” I hold her to comfort her. She then kisses me. We lock kisses for a few minutes then we stumble to the bed. We get undressed and embrace each other’s bodies. It feels great. We finish and lay there looking at each other. She whispers. “I think I love you.” “I think I love you too.” We kiss and feel asleep in each other’s arms. Back at the flaming office building. Two men dust the glass and ash after their bodies. They stare up at the flaming building. They are the only ones to make it out. The two hobble down the alleyway till their unnatural healing kicks in and they are easily able to walk. One notices an old dusty bike against the wall. He points it out to the other and they laugh. © 2011 The old meReviews
