Chapter Eight: Salvation

“I can’t go with you.”

“Why?”

“I can’t leave Hannah here, I love her.”

“So you are willing to give up your chance of being in heaven, just for her?”

“Yes.”

“They were right about you.”

“Who was?”

“The other angels. They knew you wouldn’t take my offer.”

“How do you know about me?”

“We know about everyone. But you are special. It’s your job to protect and bring in the life that will bring the whole back to the light.”

“Why me?”

“I don’t know that. And I can’t answer many of your questions. But I do need to tell you one thing.”

“What is it?”

“Your girl is pregnant. You and her made it the first time you had relations.”

“She is?”

I start to cry a little. I’m going to be a father. I’m happy. But the reality hits me, how am I going to save her? I ask the angel.

“What do I do next?”

“Take this. And protect yourself and get everyone out of this town. Travel to the next town over, it’s a safe haven.”

The angel handles me a knife with a bunch a strange symbols on it. He then walks away and disappears.

I decide to try to sneak out the back window. I head to the back and force myself out a small window. I need to save Hannah and my future baby.

Also, what do the strange symbols look like?

Work on the dialogue. I think you should go into more detail about Johns reaction to hearing about Hannah's pregnancy. It would be more effective.
