Chapter Five: Abnormal

Chapter Five: Abnormal

A Chapter by The old me

It started off as an abnormal day. I went to bed at five in the morning. Sleep was rare for me, not because I didn’t get the chance to sleep. But when I slept, I tossed and turned all night. Add that with a good chance of having a nightmare, and all of it equaled a great amount of tiredness. I was actually having a good night sleep when I got a phone call at eight in the morning. It was my friend, Robert.

“Hey man, you still in Utah?”

“No, I was never in Utah, I was home all weekend.”

“O ok. I’ll talk to you later”

“Ok, Bye”

I hang up. I’m wide awake now.

“F**k.”

I slowly roll out of my softest cloud feeling of a bed. I start heading to the bathroom to release the remaining liquids from the day before. I do what I do; I won’t bore you with the details. I head back to my perfect temperature of a room where I think I shall return to my sleep world. Midway there I hear a pounding at the front door. I turn around and head to the door, feeling like a mindless zombie. I answer the door. It is Robert.

“Hello Robert…”

“Hey man, got any food?”

Before I could even answer, he pushes through me and heads to my kitchen.

He gets some food and we head to my room.

Robert stops eating and turns to me.

“Hey, so is it cool if Alexis and her friend come over and hang with us later?”

I thought in my mind, “Not really, I don’t even want you here.” But I say:

“Yeah its fine, I’m just meeting with Alice later so you all will have to leave by then”

“That’s weak, but ok.”

Alexis was Robert’s girlfriend. They had been together for a long time, about ten months. I and Alexis once almost dated, but nothing ever came from it. O well. She is a bit of a train wreck, so I guess I dodged a bullet. Well at least that’s what everyone tells me, I wouldn’t have minded either way.

Time passes and the doorbell rings. It’s Alexis and her friend. I greet them.

“Hello.”

“Hey, Charlie, this is Andrea.”

“O hello, nice to meet you”

She smiles. She was very pretty. Long flowing red-orange hair, cute little freckles on her pale skin and beautiful smooth and soft looking red lips.

“Hi Honey”, she says in an extremely seductive voice.

I let them in and we all head to my living where Robert is sitting. We all start our dreadful attempts at small talk. Till Andrea yells aloud.

“So yeah, I’m NOT PREGNANT!!!”

Love the morning ablution dispensation.
Great passage...The train wreck - bullet dodging!
I think the word (room) may be missing from the (I let them in) paragraph.
Considerate of you how you keep the chapters short for reviewing.
The whole thing works, I enjoyed it all. Its a real pleasure reading your work, because its my type of thing. Thankyou

A change, I like it. It draws you in as you read. Very good. Like it. The way the lack of sleep is described makes you feel tired within, the details were excellent as I read. Very nice. Enjoyed reading. And can't wait for more.
