Through Painted Glass

Through Painted Glass

A Poem by Diahnna C. Peairson

Of painted glass,

A screen is made.

Through it I see

Different shades.

Colors that

Cannot be named.

For words would be

Their beauty's maim.

Beyond the glass,

To what is real,

The world is gray

And cold as steel.

I'm safe inside

This colored frame,

Where creatures can't

Reveal my shame.

In crowded rooms

I am alone.

The creatures shout

In whispered tones.

I watch them laugh,

And touch, and grin.

I watch their eyes,

Secrets within.

If I should leave,

No one would know.

But still I stay;

Endure the show.

And when at last

I am revealed,

I am met with

What is real.

All that's flawed

Can now be seen.

I should have stayed

Behind the screen.

The screen of glass

Where, looking in,

One can see

Beyond my skin.

I wish one day,

At long, long last,

To just be seen

Through painted glass.

this poem has great rhyming but its hard to relate to or get a deep connection to ... not much emotion in it
