Colliding ThoughtsA Poem by Darren Oxton
A cheerful calm wraps itself
in reams of tranquil delight, reflecting yellow stars which skip and bound in merriment, to songs of a hot summers night, spinning in circles, gently kissed with a fresh meadow scent, the soul of a soul whoose life feels well spent. The mind tumbles to and fro through many a year, yesterdays pictures-a flickbook of memories, slipping-seaping, softly, in and out of time (various faces of past and present), criss-cross then align. It's a funny thing when trapped in such a space, surrounded by beauty and the elegant charms of this 'free' world, how the mind gathers a vivid and spellbinding place! -a hub of a life embedded with love. 'Am I afraid?' Do all my thoughts cascade and shatter into a myriad of pieces to shake and re-make-re-form-re-bake, like fragments of a story or layers on a cake? Do I slip solo, clutching at the fabric of fibre, my only incentive beyond those twisted images of lifes warped c o lli..d.,,er.. up- on waking to normality? Do my hopes or fears bath fervently within a realm of uncertainty? Should I let them... .......?.....I am blind...blinded........ .............a bright light....clouds my head...am I DEAD or ALIVE..... . . that breeze returns and again I am home, wrapped in a blanket -but not alone! sheltered by your fleece of natural beauty, leaves fall- ing..to the ground in autumns bloom. And then I realise...I realise, and I no longer thirst for answers, for they will come in years-years coming, when the stars smile shiny bright over me, you...you and I, lying together in a rose petal bed.... beneath those mighty heavens stretching easily beyond the infinite mist of an unknown sky.... © Darren Oxton, All rights reserved, 2010 © 2010 Darren Oxton |
