Ink Stains I

Ink Stains I

A Poem by Brown Eyed Girl

I. Lies Never Last

Close the door
but before you do
fashion those charred brown eyes to cry

Tell the truth
let down your boxer's bounce
take off the gloves and let it out
write it down
in your holy collection, if you must
call it what you will
to justify your choices

Like time will force the night upon my doorstep
this will tear our dreams apart
somehow
I cannot reconcile how we didn't see this coming

I have already closed my tear-stained book
I realize far too late
I never should have let you read
the world I hide inside

There is no need for secrets now
your ink has already
      smeared
all over
    the tales
you meant
        to sell me

The antithesis of subtlety but poignant. Have you considered not breaking up your lines in such small pieces? It gets a little... distracting. All in all, though, a fair piece. I need hardly tell you to keep up the pen; it seems quite lodged in your hand. Cheers.

About
I love to read, I love to write. I have been a lot of places and done a lot of things. In that time I have found writing to be one of the most satisfying pastimes. I make no claims to being any good.. more..
