sand and sea

sand and sea

A Poem by dovetailer
"

it's where we touch that we are fulfilled...

"

sand and sea

I do not think a single night

would ever be enough

to consummate all the need

I feel of you...

no... not a lifetime of nights

spent at your arms

would serve as cause to say

"I have enough..."

perhaps we have met

in another time and place...

perhaps in another life

you were mine

and I was yours

and we have spent our lifetime

unaware of what had been

‘til we touched and our eyes opened

and we saw what we have loved

and had

and lost

and now the chance to have again

is in our grasp...

I know you love hard

and play hard

and crave nothing of permanence

in your existence...

the pain you have endured

far exceeds what I could ever ease...

yet...I have a need

that only you can fill...

but you have the same...

a need you have denied

because it was too costly to

trust again...

I wonder if we could make a world of our own...

a nexus between your world and mine...

a place we could go and bare our souls

love and be loved..

where we could count and covet

the true worth of each other

unafraid to "blow the wad"

spend it all...

seeking nothing in return

but true affection

given and taken at will...

a place where we could plot our course

tuck our world tightly between yours and my own...

an oasis...

a place to quench our thirst...

sate our souls...

our bodies bless

with the rapture of

flesh and bone...

I write this by the ocean’s edge...

where sun makes diamond-studded waves sparkle...

it ebbs and flows

knows no master

save the pull of the moon and stars

I see... it soothes

I love it as it is...

it is free...

yet it never fails to lap at my feet when I near...

kiss me anywhere it chooses..

it is powerful...

dangerous...

I can give it nothing but my respect...

and love...

you are my sea...

I crave you to envelope me

in you...

it is where we touch

that we can love...

be it soothing spirit

or burning flesh...

I do not want to change you

or be changed

but we will be transformed...

just as the stones are worn through time

by the kiss and caress of wanton waves...

sand and sea..

you and me

meant to be...
