Lightning bolt

 

I've been looking for a lightning bolt

To come out of the sky

And strike my heart asunder as

My life is passing by

If I had never tasted love

Or felt it's loving grip...

If I had never been amazed

I'd never make this trip

If I had never felt the rush

From being in one's arms

If I had never been held captive

By a woman's charms

I never would be waiting for

another chance to take

To find a "you" of whom I dream

While sleeping or awake

Once avidly my heart did beat

My lungs were gasping breath

The highs we reached when f*****g were

Like taking crystal meth...

That tide that rose so high has ebbed

My heart has dormant been

I've felt dissatisfied at best

the towel I'd tossed in

I feared I'd never love again

or find that perfect "one"

to light me up like Fenway Park

Make me feel so undone...

They say you never get your wish

'til "it" you cease to crave

But I'll not cease from craving Love

Until I'm in my grave...

So while all high on getting by

I read some of your verse

so bold and bright and written tight

I felt my heart immerse...

You know just how it went from there

You thrill immeasurably...

You fill me where I long and more

I want you terribly...

It's all so new... This "me and you"

Not one to overstep my bounds

most times I'm in control...

That lightning can retrace its steps...
