Binary Stars

 

binary stars are what we are

two bodies revolving around each other

forever connected in space

our mass and strength

and respective identity

in perfect balance

 

each star is unique and separate...

yet each identified by the other

symbiosis in the essence

of what they share

each relies on the other

to survive

 

somewhere in the ether

they spin around each other

like two lovers on a dance floor

adoring eyes fixed

hands clasped and spinning

in the glittering light

 

they spin but to them it seems

as if they are frozen in time

and the world spins around

them in a dizzying blur

they are the center of their universe...

 fixated and serene

 

the bonds between them connect  them

prevent them from colliding

and certain destruction

or from hurtling unchecked

into the black void and

certain loneliness

 

binary stars are what we are

each our own but together tied

ideal in our give and take

we are one but not the same...

a scintillating love

in a dark world
