the sea is quiet today

torpid as its waves gently

lap at the shore

gently licking the place

where warm earth and cool water meet

like a lover that gently licks his love

and returns to taste again and again

not brutal…demanding

as in former days

seeking to dominate…

subdue…

…but today…

content to be equal.

to give and take…

shimmering waves give the sea a soft sheen

and blue skies reflected

give it azure dress…

its calmness imbues a peace in me

that calms the din

that often drowns out the sound of

the beating of my own heart

I sense a synergy that holds my world at bay

and in this priceless moment

I am content
